Tasting Notes

Appearance: Very hazy, golden-orange hue with possibly the biggest head I’ve ever seen on a beer: frothy like beaten egg whites.  The carbonation is so high that the bottle gushes upon opening.

Aroma: Potent and pungent: musty, funky, spicy and strong.  The fumes actually tickle the inside of my nose.

Mouthfeel: High carbonation leads to a frothy, relatively full, mouthfeel.

Taste: An initial buttery apple juice sweetness quickly morphs into a spicy, hoppy, yeasty middle.  Tart citrus, cider vinegar, and dry white wine all come forward, followed by a peppery, musty, slightly medicinal and mouth-puckering drying finish.

Pairing: This one really has me stumped.

Trivia: De Dolle Brouwers literally means “the mad brewers!”
